CPGA Atlantic partners with CJGA

(Markham, ON) February 1, 2006
- The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA)continues to grow its list
of CPGA zone supporters with the announcement that the CPGA Atlantic
will partner with the CJGA in 2006. The two organizations will provide
junior golfers in the Maritime provinces with an opportunity to
participate in a major CJGA championship event.
The CJGA/CPGA Atlantic Junior Championship will be
held in an undetermined location in Atlantic Canada in mid-August. The
tournament is one of seven CPGA zone sanctioned events on the CJGA
schedule in 2006. The CPGA Atlantic joins the Ottawa PGA, Ontario PGA,
Northern Ontario PGA, Manitoba PGA, CPGA of Saskatchewan, and British
Columbia PGA as partners of a CJGA/CPGA zone championship event.
“We’re pleased to be a part of a great opportunity
where junior golfers from across our country are able to showcase their
talent,” said CPGA Atlantic executive director Phil Canning. “Juniors
are the future of our game and Atlantic professionals believe it’s very
important to play a prominent role in the progression and development of
our junior players.”
“In 2004, the CJGA returned to the Maritimes after an
extended absence,” said Danny Fritz, chief operations officer for the
CJGA. “The level of junior golf talent in the region is improving
steadily. We expect that with the assistance of the CPGA Atlantic, the
CJGA will offer a great championship venue for participants to compete
and gain valuable tournament experience.”
