Stu Musgrave is Stanhope Champ

birdied the first playoff hole for victory over Jeff Wood to win the Tim
Horton's Stanhope Open played August 6-7 in Stanhope, P.E.I.
Both players had dramatic closing rounds on Sunday to tie at 4-under par 140 at
the 6,600 yard, par 72 course at Stanhope Golf & CC in Stanhope, PEI. Musgrave,
the head professional at Miramichi Golf & CC in Miramichi, NB shot 34-33=67
while Wood, an assistant professional at Moncton Golf & CC in Riverview, NB,
finished with 36-32 =68.
Musgrave, playing a couple of groups ahead of Wood, posted his closing 67, the
best round of the tournament that included 6 birdies and one bogey. Wood
collected 7 birdies on the final day, including four in a row on holes 14
through 17, offset by three bogeys, including a costly one on the final hole
where he needed three shots to get down from the lower fringe of the two level
green.
Third among the pros was Tim McCullum, assistant pro at Kingswood in
Fredericton, NB, who fired consistent rounds of 72-71 for a one under total of
143.
First round leaders Shane Grinton, assistant pro at the host club, and amateur
Tim Yorke of Anderson's Creek, Stanley Bridge, PEI, who shot opening 71's,
faltered a bit in the closing round with 74 and 76 respectively. Grinton
finished fourth in the pro division and Yorke finished second to low amateur
Kevin Crozier of the host club, who shot 74-72 for a 146 total.

CPGA Atlantic Tour. The next event is the Ganong CPGA Atlantic Tour
Championship, presented by Wilson Sports, which will be played at Moncton
Golf &CC on September 9-11.
