- At the Annual General Meeting of Canadian Professional Golfers
Association – Atlantic Zone the membership elected a new Executive
Committee.
Ed Ryan, Head Professional at Antigonish Golf & CC was
chosen as President to lead the Association in 2007 – 2008.
Vice President / Finance is Stu Musgrave, Executive
Professional at Moncton Golf & CC, Moncton, NB. Second Vice President
and Tournament Captain is Jason Porter, Executive Professional at the
Fairmont Algonquin, St. Andrew’s, NB. Gordie Smith, Head Professional at
Oakfield Golf & CC, Halifax, NS is Past President and CPGA Atlantic
Representative on the national CPGA Board of Directors.
Rounding out the Atlantic Executive Committee are

of St. Andrew’s Golf Club, St. Andrews’s, NB; Pat DeCoste, Head
Professional of The Links at Penn Hills, Shubenacadie, NS; Jason Lohnes,
Head Professional of Ashburn Golf Club, Halifax, NS; Greg Sutherland,
Head Professional of Truro Golf Club, Truro, NS; Jim Ogilvie, Head
Professional of Brightwood Golf & CC, Dartmouth, NS; and Paul Strang,
Executive Professional at Abercrombie Golf & CC, New Glasgow, NS.
This is Ryan’s second service as Zone President,
having served in this capacity in 1995 –1996. He has been a member of
the Atlantic Executive Committee for over 15 years in which time he has
headed several portfolios. Ryan, who has been Head Professional at
Antigonish for 22 years, is also host professional of the annual Elders’
Cup, the “ryder cup format,” season ending event, of the CPGA Atlantic
Tour, which pits the best team of professionals, thirty-four years and
younger, against a team of professionals 35 years and older.
The CPGA Atlantic Executive Committee oversees the
education, employment, tournaments and membership services for 170 Class
A golf professionals and Apprentices employed in the Atlantic Provinces.
The Atlantic Zone is one of nine zones of the Canadian PGA which
represents over 3,000 Class A members and Apprentices across the
country.
