- Shane Grinton, of Links at Penn Hills, Shubenacadie, NS, captured the
CPGA Atlantic Assistant Professionals’ Championship, by a two shot
margin.
The annual championship, sponsored by Taylor Made –
Adidas, was contested 27 – 28 August at the 6,350 yard, par 71 Truro
Golf Club, Truro, NS.
Grinton, who also won this championship in 2004,
fashioned a closing round of 72 to go with his opening round of
one-under par 70, for a 142 total.
In a three-way tie for second, at 144,were Jon McIsaac
of the host club, Adam Chamberlain of Gowan Brae, Bathurst, NB and Jeff
Wood of Moncton Golf Club in Riverview, NB. McIsaac and Chamberlain
matched rounds of 70-74, while Wood counted 76-68; his final three-under
par round being the lowest of the championship.
Tim McCullum of the Lynx of Kingswood, Fredericton, NB
and Andrew Noseworthy of Oakfield Golf & CC, Oakfield, NS were fifth at
146.
Thirty-three assistant professionals, from throughout
the Maritime Provinces competed.
