- The recent Atlantic Golf Symposium, presented by Club Car Atlantic,
attracted many of our golf industry’s front line people to Holland
College in Charlottetown, PEI.
A joint collaboration of Holland College, the National
Golf Course Owners’ Association Atlantic Chapter and Canadian PGA
Atlantic, the symposium was held 29-30 March. Organizing the event were
the professional golf management students of the college, who brought
together speakers and topics that were relevant and informative for the
industry leaders and students in attendance.
Among the speakers and their topics were:
Leigha Main and Irfan Ismail of Green Grass One, who
gave a presentation on Merchandising
Dave McCafferty, Atlantic Executive Director of the
National Golf Course Owners Association, spoke on instituting a Beginner
Friendly Program
Gary Bernard, Director of Education at the Canadian
PGA, delivered a talk on RCGA - CPGA Long Term Player Development
James Cronk, Managing Director of Play Golf, presented
a national initiative to Grow the Game of Golf in Canada, as well as a
talk on ensuring employee delivery of the Five Steps To Consistency
Bob Weeks, editor and host of Score Golf TV, related
the current state of the Canadian golf media and his experiences in
covering the PGA Tour
Kevin Thistle, Head Professional- General Manager of
Angus Glen Golf Club, spoke on delivering Excellence in Customer Service
Ryan Crook, of Global Golf Advisors, gave a
presentation on Assessing the Industry and the Business of Golf
The symposium, held annually at Holland College, was
well attended and proved to be an excellent primer for all who work in
the industry, as they prepare for another season.
