- Kevin Dugas of the Links at Montague, Dartmouth, NS birdied five
holes, including the final two, to pull away from the field and capture
the first Callaway Cup event on the CPGA Atlantic Tour 2008.
His two-under par total of 36-33 = 69, was three shots
better than runner-up Pat DeCoste of the Links at Penn Hills,
Shubenacadie, NS, who shot 72.
Dugas’ birdies at holes 6,7,13,17 and 18 were offset
with a double bogey on the second and a bogey at the tenth.
The event was played on Monday, June 9 over the 6,400
yard, par 71, New Glasgow, NS layout. Twenty- four CPGA Atlantic
professionals competed.
In third place with 74 was Scott Frizzell, of the
Links at Montague.
Troy Howe of Fox Creek, Dieppe, NB and David Perry,
Ashburn, Halifax, NS were tied in fourth place at 75.
The Callaway Cup is a group of three events within the
CPGA Atlantic Tour. The next Callaway Cup competition will be the Head
Professional / Assistant Professional event at the Amherst Golf Club on
Tuesday, July 8.
