event chairman Bill Belliveau |
(Moncton, NB) September 7, 2008
- Stu Musgrave of Moncton Golf & CC, Moncton, NB, shot an even par 70,
in the opening round on Saturday 6 September, to win the rain-shortened
CPGA Atlantic Tour Championship by one stroke. All play, scheduled for
Sunday’s final round was cancelled, when heavy rains left the course in
an unplayable condition.
Tied for second were Adam Chamberlain of Gowan Brae, Bathurst, NB; Kevin
Dugas and Scott Frizzell, both of the Links at Montague, Dartmouth, NS.
Fifth was Pat DeCoste of the Links at Penn Hills, Shubenacadie, NS.
The win was the fifth victory in this event for Musgrave. He had
captured the event previously in a four year stretch 2002-2005.
Thirty-nine professionals participated in the annual event held at the
challenging 6,200 yard, par 70 Moncton Golf & CC layout. The benefiting
charity of the event was the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
Greg Jones of Country Meadows Golf Club, Moncton, NB recorded a
one-under par 69 to win the Ganong Invitational, the amateur event that
was run in conjunction with the Tour Championship.
