- Andrew Noseworthy and Jessica MacNutt, of Oakfield Golf & CC, Grand
Lake, NS, rallied on the back nine with five birdies, including three in
a row on 16,17 and 18, to shoot 66 and pull out a one-shot victory in
the Callaway Cup Head Pro – Assistant Pro Best Ball at the Amherst Golf
Club on 8 July.
Derek MacKinnon and Dan Fraser of Ken-Wo Golf & CC,
New Minas, NS, finished in second place with 67. Tied for third place at
69 were the teams of Scott Frizzell and Kevin Dugas of the Links of
Montague, Dartmouth, NS and Stu Musgrave, Moncton Golf & CC and Mike
Perry of Stonehurst, both of Moncton, NB.
After shooting one-under 35 over the opening nine,
Noseworthy and MacNutt bogeyed the tricky tenth hole before closing out
with five birdies and three pars.
A field of twenty teams of Canadian PGA Atlantic
professionals contested the event in sunny and hot conditions over the
always challenging 6,300 yard, par 71, Amherst, NS layout.
The next Tour event will be the CPGA Atlantic Zone
Championship on 15-16-17 July at New Ashburn. The next Callaway Cup
event will be a Stableford competition to be held at Brightwood Golf &
CC on 17 September.
