Trevor Giggey Wins CPGA Atlantic Order of Merit

Trevor Giggey won the CPGA Atlantic Order of Merit as
the professional with the most points on the CPGA Atlantic Tour in 2009.
The head professional from Fox Meadow Golf Club, Stratford, PEI, had a
total of 203 points, edging out runner-up John Irwin of Miscouche, PEI,
who had 201.
Heading into the final event of the season, the Callaway Cup Stroke Play
at Amherst Golf Club, on 21 September, Giggey held an eight point lead
over Irwin. A second place finish in the event allowed Irwin to gain six
points, making it close, but it was not enough to overtake Giggey.
Third was Troy Howe of Moncton Golf & CC with 180 points; in fourth
place was Kevin Dugas of the Links at Montague, with 168 and fifth was
Justin Dawson of Green Gables with 156.
The Atlantic Tour is a series of eight events, including:
CPGA Atlantic Zone Championship at Oakfield– 15-16 July
Stanhope Open at Stanhope Golf & CC – 8-9 August
CPGA Atlantic Tour Championship at Moncton Golf & CC – 12-13 September
and the Callaway Cup events:
Head Pro – Assistant Pro Best Ball at Abercrombie Country Club – 8 June
Pro-Pro Best Ball at Green Gables – 22 June
Stroke Play at Riverside – 27 July
Stableford at Brightwood – 31 August
Stroke Play at Amherst – 21 September
Season ending Tour points determine the teams for the Elders Cup at
Antigonish Golf & CC, in October, where twelve CPGA Atlantic
professionals 34 years and younger
( The Young Guns ) square off in a modified “Ryder Cup competition” with
an equal number of professionals, who are 35 years and older, ( The Old
Guys ).
The Old Guys will be defending the cup on 17-18 October.

Canada, Fletcher Leisure Group, TaylorMade-adidas, Golf Supply House,
Nearly New Golf Balls and American Express.
