John Irwin of Miscouche, PEI captured the Callaway Cup
Series for 2009 with a seven point margin over runner-up Trevor Giggey
of Fox Meadow.
Heading into the final competition of the series,
Irwin held a slim one point edge on Giggey, but his second place finish
in the final event, played at Amherst Golf Club on 21 September, was all
it took to wrap up the overall Callaway Cup points title.
Third place in the series went to Nick Peters of
Belvedere, fourth was Greg Sutherland of Truro and in fifth spot was
Troy Howe of Moncton Golf & CC
The Callaway Cup is a series of five one day events,
within the CPGA Atlantic Tour.
This year the events included:
Head Pro – Assistant Pro Best Ball at Abercrombie Country Club – 8 June
Pro-Pro Best Ball at Green Gables – 22 June
Stroke play at Riverside – 27 July
Stableford at Brightwood – 31 August
Stroke play at Amherst – 21 September
