Atlantic Regional Golf Shows
Signs of spring

CPGA Atlantic golf store staff at NGCOA Show, Halifax

Thousands of Atlantic Canada’s golfers took a break from the winter blues to enjoy meeting their friends and viewing the booths and attractions when the consumer golf shows came to town in Halifax and Moncton.

The Halifax Golf & Travel Show, presented by the National Golf Course Owners Association, was held 28, 29 & 30 March at Exhibition Park. The Atlantic Regional Golf Show, presented by Highlight Promotions, welcomed eager golfers to the Moncton Coliseum Agrena on 4, 5 & 6 April.

Eager golfers, hoping winter was over, swarmed the show floors eager to be part of the promise of the golf season about to begin. Happy faces, inquired about vacation packages, new course openings, teaching academies and equipment. Anyone anxious to try the latest in golf technology headed for the demo area where Wilson, Ping, Mizuno, TNT, Spalding and Callaway had their latest models available for a test drive. CPGA Atlantic professionals attended the range giving swing tips to golfers young and old.

The atmosphere of the show would remind you of the first day back at your golf club. Everyone was looking for signs of spring and searching out fellow golfers, many whom they hadn’t seen since last fall.

Carson Way, a World Long Drive finalist, hosted the Halifax Amateur Long Drive Championship at the Halifax show. Through the aid of a state-of- the-art simulator, several golfers competed in various categories. Both shows featured large putting greens where kids and adults alike competed for prizes. Numerous prize draws were also held.

In addition to the demo site, several golf retailers, including CPGA Atlantic, were on hand exhibiting their products. Provincial marketing groups promoted the golf properties of their provinces and answered a lot of questions regarding course construction. New golf course developments, and regional golf academies, along with their teaching professionals, were available to advise golfers on the advantages of instructional packages and combining instruction with vacations. A major highlight of the show was the popular teaching clinics, given by golf professionals of the Canadian PGA Atlantic Zone.

Consumer golf shows are always a great way to kick off a new season!
