Jason Snow Captures Amherst Open
Jason
Snow of Hampton Golf & CC continued his winning ways this season by capturing
the 26th Amherst Open, held 27 -28 at Amherst Golf & CC, Amherst, N.S.
Snow, also the reigning Atlantic Assistant Professional Champion, fashioned
rounds of 72 and 69 for a one under par total of 141 and a two stroke margin
over amateur Gary Carter of the local club. Carter recorded rounds of 73-70.
Under ideal playing conditions the well manicured Amherst layout provided a
great challenge to the strong professional and amateur field who were competing
in the 26th annual event.
First round leader Tim McCullum, of The Algonquin in St. Andrew's, N.B., was
second in the pro field with a 145 total. Jim Baxter of Moncton Golf & CC,
Moncton, N.B. was third low pro and low senior with 147.
Earlier in the season, Snow and Duncan Mayberry, head professional at Hampton,
combined to win the Hampton Triple Six Team Championship, the opening event on
the Maritime Pro-Am Tour.
The 26th Amherst Open, sponsored by Jazz Golf is the fifth event on the Maritime
