Four in a Row for Musgrave
CPGA Atlantic Tour Championship, Moncton Golf Club, September 9-11, 2005

A final round, one under par 34-35=69, gave Stu Musgrave low professional honours at the CPGA Atlantic Tour Championship for the fourth year in a row. Added to an opening round of 72, the 141 total by the Miramichi Golf & CC head professional was enough to hold off Brian Stewart, from Fredericton Golf Club, who also turned in a closing 69 and finished one stroke back.

The Ganong Tour Championship, presented by Wilson Sports, was played at the 6200 yard, par 70 Moncton Golf & CC layout in Riverview, NB on September 10-11. Forty six CPGA Atlantic professionals competed.

Over all low score for the tournament was Greg Jones of Country Meadows Golf & CC, Indian Mountain, NB. Following an opening round of 73, Jones carded 33-33 to close with a blistering four under par 66 and take low amateur honours with a 139 total.

Although a double bogey five on the par 3, 213 yard, twelfth hole looked like possible disaster for Musgrave he regrouped with an eagle three from the fringe on the 525 yard, par 5, sixteenth hole. It was his second win on the Tour this season, his other victory coming at the Stanhope Open in August.

Stewart recorded rounds of 73-69=142 good for runner-up spot in the pro division. Third among the pros was Tim McCullum from Kingswood in Fredericton who shot 74-69=143. Tied for fourth were Derek MacKinnon of Ken-Wo Country Club, New Minas, NS and Gordie Smith of Oakfield, Grand Lake, NS at 144. MacKinnon was 72-72 and Smith 73-71.
