(May 30, 2004) Chris Irwin and Craig Gallant of Fox Meadow Golf Club, Charlottetown, PEI won low professional team honours, in a playoff, at the Hampton Triple Six Championship, held in Hampton, NB on 29-30 May. Irwin and Gallant won on the second playoff hole, with a par, over the teams of Jason Lohnes (Ashburn) and Pat DeCoste (Penn Hills) and Jeff Wood (Fox Harb’r) and Tim McCullum (The Algonquin). All three teams had finished regulation play with 36 hole scores of 137, 7 under par on the 6,332 yard, par 72 Hampton Golf & CC course. The low amateur team was Shane Hayward and Gary Breen of the host Hampton club, who also recorded a 137 total, on rounds of 65-72. The Hampton Triple Six, the opening event on the Atlantic Pro-Am Tour, features an innovative format. Two-player teams play six holes of “Alternate Shot”, six holes of “Scramble” and six holes of “Best Ball” during each round. Major corporate sponsors include Wilson Sports, Titleist, American Express, Callaway, Jazz Golf, Top-Flite Canada, Golf Supply House, Elite Golf, Universal Signs and Graphics and the National Golf Course Owners’ Association The next event on the Atlantic Pro-Am Tour will be the Canjet Terra Nova Celebrity Pro-Am, 25-27 June at Terra Nova Resort, Newfoundland.
