Masters Champion
Clyde River amateur tops
elite field

Anthony
Warren emerged victorious, over an elite field of the regions top golfers, in
winning the second annual Maritime Masters, at Avondale Golf Course, over the
weekend. His 54-hole total of 217 nipped amateur Leon Carter by one shot.
Professional Kevin Dugas, of Country Meadows, was low professional, four shots
back at 221.
Warren, a former PEI
Amateur champion, playing out of Clyde River Golf Club, outside of
Charlottetown, fashioned rounds of 71-73-73 for a 217 total, one over par for
three trips around the 6,520 yard, par 72 championship course in Vernon River,
PEI.
Carter, the 2000 Nova
Scotia Amateur champion, faltered with a double bogey six on the final hole for
a score of 218, with rounds of 74-71-73.
Dugas of Country Meadows,
Moncton, NB held off Stu Musgrave of Lingan, Sydney, NS to take low professional
honours. Dugas shot rounds of 71-72-78 for 221, while Musgrave posted 222, on
scores of 73-74-75.
The Maritime
Masters, presented by Callaway Golf and sponsored by APM is the second event on
the Maritime Pro-Am Tour. The field features 32 top amateurs and 32
professionals from the Maritime region in the 54 hole championship.
