Coulombe Captures New Brunswick Open at Sussex

(July 28,
2002) Dan Coulombe held off some late charges from the field to
capture the New Brunswick Open at Sussex Golf & CC, Sussex, NB 27-28 July. The
Fredericton amateur recorded rounds of 71-72 for a one under par 143 over the
6,500 yard challenging, but well conditioned course.
Stu Musgrave, head professional at Lingan Country Club, Sydney, NS was low
professional and shared runner-up honors with another Fredericton amateur, Tony
MacKinnon. Musgrave shot 73-71 and MacKinnon tallied two rounds of 72.
Gordie Smith, professional at Oakfield, Grand Lake, NS scored 74-71=145 for
second place in the pro division. Kevin Dugas, professional at Country Meadows
and Kyle Maguire, professional Clyde River, PEI tied for third at 147. Host pro
Shawn Miller, Steve Toombs of Amherst and Dave Bowlan of Avondale tied for
fourth at 150. Duncan Mayberry of Hampton was next at 151.
Other top amateurs were Greg Breen, Hampton at 145, Barry Coleman, Moncton was
146 and Craig Taylor, Belvedere and Ron Wilson, Riverside were 147.
The New Brunswick Open is the third stop on the Maritime Pro-Am Tour. Major
