Seks Drive Triple Six Championship Held
at Hampton Golf & CC
Sullivan and Dugas capture first event

Doug Sullivan and Kevin Dugas of Country Meadows, Moncton, NB captured the first event on the Maritime Pro-Am Tour 2003 with two stroke victory in the Seks Drive Triple Six Championship at Hampton Golf & CC, Hampton, NB on 24-25 May 2003.

Sullivan and Dugas finished with a 13 under par total of 131 on rounds of 64-67 over the 6,300 yard, par 72 Hampton layout.

Runners-up were the team of Jeff Wood of Fox Harb'r and Tim McCullum of The Algonquin, who made a valiant run at the title with a five under 31 on the back nine during the final round, but came up a couple of strokes short, with rounds of 64-69 = 133. Sullivan and Dugas recorded a steady closing round of 33-34=67.

Defending champions Duncan Mayberry and Jason Snow of the host club finished in third spot with a 68-70=138 total.

Greg Breen and Tim Breen, of Hampton, successfully defended their amateur title with a five stroke victory over their nearest rivals. The Breen team shot rounds of 67-70 =137.

Preceding the championship, a corporate pro-am was held on Friday May 23rd  with twenty-five teams competing. Top place went to Team Aliant, with professional Tim McCullum. Low individual pro score in the pro-am was 67, shot by Kevin Dugas.

A donation, from the Maritime Pro-Am Tour in the amount of $ 2,000., was

 presented to the Rotary Club of Hampton. Making the presentation was Paul Belliveau of Seks Drive, the presenting sponsor of the Hampton event. In accepting the donation, Ivan Henry, of the local Rotary Club, announced that the money would help to send underprivileged children to Camp Rotary.

The Triple Six Championship features an innovative format. Two-player teams are challenged with six holes of “Alternate Shot”, six holes of “Scramble” and six holes of “Best Ball”in each round. Approximately 100 players participated in the 36 hole event including 38 members of Canadian PGA Atlantic.
