Hampton Triple Six The opening event on the Maritime Pro-Am Tour features an innovative format. Two-player teams in the Hampton Triple Six will be challenged with six holes of “Alternate Shot”, six holes of “Scramble” and six holes of “Best Ball”. The format of play will rotate each round. Hampton is a 6,300 yard, par 72 course, including one of the longest holes in North America, the famous 689-yard, par 6, number six.
Callaway Golf Maritime Masters Presented by Callaway Golf, this event will feature a select field of professionals and amateurs showcasing the finest golf in our region in a 54-Hole Championship, played over the 6,900-yard - par 72 layout.
New Brunswick Open The challenging Sussex layout should provide all the competitors with a demanding test of golf. At 6,650 yards, par 72, the rolling layout, featuring steep inclines, valleys, streams and elevated greens will challenge the use of every club in the bag.
Wilson Sports \ Tim Horton’s CPGA Atlantic Zone Championship Wilson Sports is the presenting sponsor of the Atlantic Zone Championship, which will be held in conjunction with the Stanhope Open. Hosting this summer classic is the Stanhope Golf & Country Club, a 6,600-yard, par 72 course, located in the heart of the PEI’s “beach district.” Kevin Dugas, runner-up in last year’s Atlantic Zone Championship, at Sussex, likes “the island” layout. He has performed well here in the past, including winning last year’s Stanhope Open. “The greens and the pin positions really dictate the difficulty at Stanhope. The cloverleaf shaped greens and mounding can cause you great difficulty, especially when the pins are tucked in behind the mounds,” explains Dugas. “Position is everything when you play there. I hope the wind is up, as it usually is, just to see what the guys will shoot. It’s a good test of golf.”
Jazz Golf \
Shopper’s Drug Mart Presented by Jazz Golf, The Amherst Open has been a traditional event for pros and amateurs for 25 years. Amherst Golf Club, at 6350 yards, par 71, is an older course with character. There are a wonderful variety of holes, rolling through the woods and out in the open where, depending on the day, you feel at the mercy of the Tantramar winds.
COORS LIGHT Tour Championship Presented by Coors Light, the Tour Championship will draw an exceptional field, as several professionals will have qualified for an additional Tour Championship purse. Covered Bridge is a 6,800-yard, par 72 layout.
Elder’s Cup A Ryder-Cup style team event is planned to wrap up the year, pitting a team of professionals 35 years and older against a team of professionals under 35. Teams will be decided on overall point standings. Will this start a rivalry ?…..of course !!
The tour also promotes the everyday skills of the Canadian PGA professional, as well as their playing abilities. “In addition to showcasing the competitive side of the Atlantic golf professional, the tour provides a vehicle to publicize and enhance the image of each professional, their club where they work and our Association,” outlines Hatchard. “ We will promote the management, teaching and administrative skills and the many other duties they perform everyday. Golfers who are members at a club employing a CPGA professional are very fortunate. The club professional, with their vast knowledge of the golf industry, is the acknowledged expert at the club. If you’re looking for advise on your game or equipment or golf in general, you should talk to your CPGA professional soon……we’re good for your game.”
